Fishing at Lake Lehow

On a sunny September Sunday, 42 students and 9 volunteers from Fletcher Community School got on a bus and headed out to Lake Lehow to fish. The Gateway Optimist sponsored the trip. They provided the bus, reserved the lake through the parks department, helped supervise and teach the students to fish and provided a delicious lunch. The students cast their fishing lines into the lake and within a few minutes the chaperones started to hear shouts of “I got a fish.” The student’s kept the chaperones busy releasing the fish as they shied away from touching them. Most students caught at least 3 fish. A great time was had by all.
